The DIY Nano app offers families an engaging platform to explore nanoscale science, engineering, and technology through hands-on activities accessible from home or on the go.

The app features a selection of complimentary, user-friendly activities that include comprehensive materials lists, clear step-by-step instructions, and detailed explanations of the underlying scientific concepts. Most of the required materials are readily available and inexpensive, often found in everyday household items.

Additionally, the app provides links to family-oriented videos and facilitates browsing the whatisnano.org website for further educational content, activities, and multimedia resources.

An iPad-compatible version is also available to enhance accessibility.

Development of the DIY Nano app involved collaboration among Lawrence Hall of Science, Sciencenter, Emily Maletz Graphic Design, and NISE Net—a national network of science museums. The project was funded by the National Science Foundation.
